Statement from Susan Phalen, Spokesperson,
House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence

“After a career spent encouraging and supporting a robust counterterrorism policy, Chairman Rogers cannot legitimately be accused of being soft on terrorism or extremism.  The purpose of Chairman Rogers’ speech Friday is to lay out a comprehensive strategy to defeat radical Islamic terrorism, whether emanating from Pakistan, the Gaza strip, Egypt, Syria, Nigeria or anywhere else in the world. Chairman Rogers intends to continue to take his policy ideas to audiences all around America – and he will not censor himself because of the displeasure of any one individual. America deserves a sound counterterrorism policy, and the only way to achieve that goal is to advocate for one.

“Chairman Rogers has consistently opposed the proposed mosque to be built near Ground Zero and always will.”
