WASHINGTON, DC-Yesterday, Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18), House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) member, alongside host, Elisabeth Braw, a Senior Fellow with AEI, kicked off the House Intelligence GOP Committee's Beyond the SCIF series with "Defending Western Economies Against Chinese Unfair Practices" hosted by American Enterprise Institute (AEI).

 

Beyond the SCIF is an effort by Lead Republican Mike Turner and the House Intelligence Committee Republicans to connect with experts and leaders in the national security field to create an open dialogue on threats facing our nation and what committee members can do to counter the malign actions of our adversaries.

During his opening remarks, Congressman LaHood states that China "has a plan to replace us." This lays the foundation for the rest of the discussion as each panelist critically assesses and unpacks the implications of China's threat towards the U.S. both economically and militarily.
