House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (OH-10) and Ranking Member Jim Himes (CT-04) received the Publius Award for leadership and bipartisanship in government from the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress (CSPC).

“We are entering a period where the threats are extraordinary domestically and internationally,” said Chairman Mike Turner. “When I became Chair of the House Intelligence Committee, I was tasked to return the Intelligence Committee back to its initial mission of national security. With the help of Ranking Member Jim Himes, we have achieved this goal, and our Committee is back to collaborating on a bipartisan basis to continue our substantive work to protect U.S. national security. I am honored that the Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress has acknowledged our important work and awarded us the prestigious Publius Award for leadership and bipartisanship in government.”

“We cannot afford to play politics with matters of national security, especially in a moment of such global instability. That’s why I am so proud of the work Chairman Turner and I have been able to do to keep our committee focused on oversight of the Intelligence Community without being distracted by partisan gamesmanship. I’m grateful to the Center for the Study of the Presidency of Congress for recognizing that shared commitment to bipartisanship through the Publius Award,” said Ranking Member Jim Himes.

“It was a pleasure to honor Chairman Mike Turner and Ranking Member Jim Himes with our bipartisan statesmanship award. They are leaders on national security who, despite all the conflicting pressures, made a proactive decision to run the House Intelligence Committee collaboratively, seeking ways to strengthen and protect the country rather than score political points,” said Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress President & CEO Glenn Nye.
