ICYMI: Turner and Himes Lead Bipartisan CODEL to Austria and the United Kingdom

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Mike Turner (OH-10) and Ranking Member Jim Himes (CT-04) recently led a bipartisan trip to Vienna, Austria, and London, United Kingdom, to conduct a series of intelligence meetings with their European counterparts. Chairman Turner and Ranking Member Himes were joined by their fellow members on the Committee, including House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (NY-21) and Representatives Darin LaHood (IL-18), Austin Scott (GA-08), Dan Crenshaw (TX-02), Stacey Plaskett (VI-AL), Jimmy Gomez (CA-34), and Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06).

The purpose of HPSCI’s CODEL was to meet with Rafael M. Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Jane D. Hartley, U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, members of the British Parliament, and senior intelligence officials to receive updates and gain further understanding of the current regional posture.

“The Intelligence Committee always welcomes opportunities to engage with our overseas counterparts, and we are very proud to have visited Europe on the heels of passing supplemental security assistance to Ukraine,” said Chairman Mike Turner and Ranking Member Jim Himes.“The overwhelming bipartisan support that this aid package received in the House of Representatives sends a clear message to the world: The United States stands firmly with Ukraine in its fight against Russia’s aggression. Vladimir Putin’s lawless military campaign threatens the international order on which our collective security depends, and all members of our Committee recognize that he must be stopped. We thank Director General Grossi and Ambassador Hartley for welcoming us to Vienna and London, respectively, and partnering with HPSCI to strengthen the United States’ bilateral relationships both in Europe and across the globe.”
