HPSCI Chairman Rick Crawford Congratulates Tulsi Gabbard on DNI Confirmation
February 12, 2025
Washington, D.C.—Today, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford issued the following statement congratulating Ms. Tulsi Gabbard on being confirmed by the U.S. Senate to serve as the Director of National Intelligence.
“In the aftermath of the September 11th attacks, Congress identified issues with how our intelligence agencies coordinated with each other, which contributed to deadly intelligence failures. The Director of National Intelligence (DNI) was established to better coordinate America’s Intelligence Community (IC) apparatus, addressing these shortcomings and protecting America from foreign adversaries. Today, whether the Office of the DNI (ODNI) has achieved these goals remains debatable.
I am very pleased to see the Senate has confirmed my former colleague Ms. Tulsi Gabbard to be the new DNI.I congratulate Ms. Gabbard on her confirmation. She understands the challenges the ODNI, and the IC writ large, face. I look forward to working closely with her to address these challenges, ensure we are strengthening our ability to collect intelligence in support of elected leaders, and ensure this is done in a manner consistent with American values and freedoms. Our national security depends on it,” said Chairman Crawford.
