WASHINGTON, D.C—House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) issued the following statement on DNI Gabbard’s establishment of a new task force charged with addressing the transparency and accountability issues within the Intelligence Community to restore Americans’ trust.

“Actions speak louder than words. And since being sworn in, DNI Gabbard has shown her commitment to addressing the degradation of transparency within the Intelligence Community, as well as, instilling a culture of accountability. Efforts such as this are required to rebuild trust in our Intelligence Community and ensure that the brave men and women there live up to their oaths. While developing the scope of this group’s work, I encourage DNI Gabbard to instruct the DIG task force to review the National Intelligence Council’s process for developing intelligence assessments that note and address dissenting views. For elected officials, including Members of this Committee, to successfully carry out our constitutional oversight responsibilities we must trust we are receiving assessments which adhere to analytic rigor, are not crafted around pre-determined narratives, and are free of any political bias.”
