Crenshaw, Houlahan on the FISC's Authorization of the Counternarcotics Certification

WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and HPSCI Cartel Task Force members Representative Dan Crenshaw (TX-02) and Representative Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06) released the below joint statement on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court’s (FISC) authorization of the new certification for counternarcotics under FISA Section 702. Representatives Crenshaw and Houlahan co-sponsored the amendment that paved the way for the establishment of a fourth certification for counternarcotics in the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act that was signed into law last year.

“We’re pleased that the FISC has authorized the new certification for counternarcotics. This certification will better enable U.S. efforts to combat foreign narco-traffickers and stop the flow of deadly narcotics, including fentanyl, into the United States. As members of the HPSCI Cartel Task Force, we want to ensure we are bringing the fight directly to the cartels, stopping them from achieving their ultimate goal of getting rich at the expense of the most vulnerable, and crippling their expansive networks and reach. In our roles on the House Intelligence Committee, we will continue to monitor the implementation of this counternarcotics certification to ensure it is being applied forcefully against foreign drug cartels while safeguarding the rights of American citizens.”
