WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) released the following statement after the sentencing of an ex-CIA analyst for leaking classified information on Israel’s plans to strike Iran last year.

“Let this be another strong warning to anyone seeking to undermine U.S. intelligence efforts and national security. There is no room in the intelligence community for those seeking to carry out their own personal or political crusades. Access to classified information is a privileged responsibility, not a right.

“I am encouraged that IC leadership continues to take steps to build a culture of accountability making it very clear there is a zero-tolerance policy for any mishandling of classified information, especially information that puts American or allies’ lives at risk.”
