"The Committee is aware of media reporting allegedly from a former committee staffer claiming to be the 'lead author' of the HPSCI Majority Staff Report declassified by President Trump and Director Gabbard. The media reporting claims there is another version of the Majority Staff Report which is '200 pages' and has not been released.
"These claims are false. The Majority Staff Report was fully developed, researched, and written by two HPSCI majority staff members. These two staff members are in regular contact with the Chairman and committee staff to this day, and they were not the source of the public claims made. Further, there is not now, and never has been, a 200 page version of the report.
"It is unacceptable, if true, that anyone would seek to take the credit for the work of the two HPSCI staff who performed their duties as quiet professionals from 2017-2020.Their work was conducted under extreme difficulty, and the committee believes they demonstrated - and continue to demonstrate - the highest standards of what the American people hope for from public servants in oversight roles. The product they produced is a testament to their professionalism.
"The Chairman again thanks President Trump and Director Gabbard for the declassification to allow for the release of the document in the public interest, and lauds the extraordinary work of the two staffers who in 2017 took on this significant challenge and produced an incredible oversight product."
