WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) issued the following statement on the release of the House Select Committee on China’s bipartisan investigative report on how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is manipulating global mineral prices to maintain its dominance.

“The CCP has been operating under the threshold of armed conflict against the U.S. for several decades, leveraging any tool in its toolbox to usurp the U.S. in its quest for global, military, and economic dominance on the world stage. The CCP will lie, steal, and cheat its way to power, and its approach to blocking the market on critical minerals is no different. By establishing monopolistic markets across rare earth and critical minerals and manipulating prices by flooding the market with critical minerals at artificially low subsidized price points, they boxed out market competition. In the years since, the rest of the world has woken up to the CCP’s game, and the U.S. and our allies must prioritize a focused, technology-driven response to the contaminated monopoly that the CCP has created.
