Rogers Says Fort Hood Review by Commission Headed by Former FBI Director William Webster Will Improve Effectiveness of FBI Investigations
Chairman Rogers Statement on the Webster Report Rogers Says Fort Hood Review by Commission Headed by Former FBI Director William Webster Will Improve Effectiveness of FBI Investigations “I commend Judge Webster for his commission’s report on the FBI’s actions surrounding the Fort Hood shooting. This report, like the Fort Hood report issued in February 2011 by Chairman Joseph Lieberman and Ranking Member Susan Collins of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, identifies a number of disturbing shortcomings in the FBI’s investigation of Army Major Nidal Hasan’s behavior prior to that fateful day in November 2009. The specific, actionable recommendations in the report will improve the effectiveness of FBI investigations and the culture within the Bureau that is still divided between agents and analysts. A classified version of this report was delivered to me earlier this week. My committee is set to receive a briefing on this report and the FBI’s plan for implementing these recommendations in the coming weeks. We will stay focused on this topic for the long term to ensure that the FBI is better prepared to address threats of this nature and prevent the loss of innocent American lives.” -30- **For regular updates, join the HPSCI Facebook page at House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence or go to the HPSCI website at - / |
