Chairman Rogers Statement on Capture of Benghazi Terrorist Ahmed Abu Khattalah

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers today made the following statement following the capture of Ahmed Abu Khattalah by U.S. forces in Benghazi, Libya. Khattalah is one of dozens of terrorists who facilitated the attacks on the U.S. facilities in Benghazi in 2012.

HPSCI Chairman Mike Rogers

“The capture of Ahmed Abu Khattalah by U.S. forces, after 644 days of brazenly roaming freely, enjoying cold drinks in public, and conducting interviews with western media, is a great first step toward bringing all the Benghazi terrorists to justice. Any day a terrorist is taken off the battlefield is a good day. We must remember Khattalah is only one of dozens of known terrorists who participated in the Benghazi attacks, and we cannot let up in our pursuit of them.  Our military, intelligence, and law enforcement professionals deserve high praise for facilitating this capture with no injuries to U.S. personnel or local civilians. This successful operation is a reminder to all that the United States holds accountable those who attack, kill or terrorize Americans, and we will continue to pursue the rest of the Benghazi terrorists.”
