Nunes Comments on Arrests of Iraqi Refugees

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes issued the following statement today in response to the announcement of the arrests of two Iraqi refugees in the United States on terror-related charges:

“The arrests of these men present a stark warning about the deficiencies of our programs for accepting refugees from Iraq and Syria. Continuing these programs in their current form poses unacceptable risks to our national security that are growing more acute by the day. The SAFE Act, which passed the House of Representatives on an overwhelming bipartisan vote, would strengthen the security vetting of these refugees. In order to reduce the risk of terrorism in the American homeland, it is crucial that the Senate quickly pass the SAFE Act and that President Obama sign it into law.”
