Nunes Comments on Reported Death of Taliban Leader

House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes released the following statement on the reported death of Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour:

“There are strong indications today that Taliban leader Mullah Mansour was killed in a U.S. air strike. If true, this would represent the well-deserved end of a bloodthirsty jihadist dedicated to the mass murder and oppression of his fellow Afghans. We must, however, remember that extreme Islamist terror groups typically outlive the death of individual leaders, and that our mission in Afghanistan is far from complete. The United States needs to relentlessly pursue the remaining jihadist commanders wherever they are and thoroughly eliminate the barbaric groups they lead.”
