Crawford, Jackson Statement on AHI Survivors Roundtable
Washington,
April 3, 2025
WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations Chairman Ronny Jackson (TX-13) released the following statements following a closed full Committee roundtable with two survivors of the Intelligence Community’s mishandling of Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI). This roundtable is part of the Committee’s ongoing investigation into these incidents which called into question several key judgments made in the IC assessments. “Since joining the Committee eight years ago, it has been a top priority of mine to get to the bottom of reported Anomalous Health Incidents of our intelligence officers, military officers, and diplomats stationed around the world. I have spoken to many of these survivors, who represent the best our nation has to offer, and it has been frustrating hearing their experiences and subsequently having our investigative efforts hindered by some in the Intelligence Community. I have been clear on this many times before, we cannot ask these brave officers to do these dangerous jobs and then turn our backs on them," said Chairman Crawford. “Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Ronny Jackson and I will continue to investigate these AHI events and will uncover the IC’s obstructions during the previous administration. We will be directly engaged in requesting the cooperation of the new IC leadership with the Committee’s investigation," continued Chairman Crawford. "The handling of Anomalous Health Incidents (AHIs) has been deeply flawed, failing the brave men and women who have served our country across the globe. Thankfully, under President Trump’s leadership and that of the great leaders he has put in place in the Intelligence Community, we have an opportunity to correct course, ensure those in the Intelligence Community responsible for the mishandling are held accountable, and uncover the truth about foreign adversaries’ involvement. As Chairman of the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, I want to thank the roundtable participants for sharing their perspectives, and I look forward to working with the Trump administration to ensure our intelligence community focuses on reality—not political narratives," said Oversight & Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Jackson.
