WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) released the following statement in response to DNI Gabbard’s recent commitment to investigate Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI) and release the findings. 

“Since joining the House Intelligence Committee in 2017, investigating reported Anomalous Health Incidents of our intelligence officers, military officers, and diplomats stationed around the world has been a top priority of mine and remains my top priority as Chairman. The Committee continues its extensive and exhaustive investigation into the IC’s mishandling of reported AHI and intends to publicly release additional information in the coming weeks. As I have said before, the Biden administration’s IC was wrong in its previous intelligence assessment, and we are working to set the record straight. My team and I have been working closely with DNI Gabbard’s team on this issue in order to uncover the IC’s obstruction, ensure transparency, and demand accountability. I am encouraged to hear DNI Gabbard’s public commitment to launching a new investigation and hope her efforts produce thorough answers and full cooperation. I plan to remain directly engaged with her and her team throughout.”

Background

• Earlier this month, Chairman Crawford held a closed full Committee roundtable with two survivors of the Intelligence Community’s mishandling of Anomalous Health Incidents (AHI). 
• In late 2024, Chairman Crawford, as Chairman of the CIA Subcommittee, released an unclassified interim report on this investigation in AHI. 
• In December 2024, Chairman Crawford joined Fox News’ America’s Newsroom to discuss the Committee’s ongoing investigation and the release of the interim report. 
• In December 2024, Chairman Crawford penned an op-ed in the Washington Examiner outlining concerns that the Committee had been misled by the IC in the Committee’s investigation into AHI.
