WASHINGTON, D.C.— House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) and House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (FL-21) released the following statement after a joint HPSCI and HFAC classified briefing with the CIA, NSA, State Department, and Department of Energy on the impact of export controls on technology competition with China.

“Export controls on semiconductor manufacturing equipment and AI chips have strengthened America’s advantage in the AI Arms Race. China is working to cheat and steal its way to winning through smuggling, distillation, and remote access of U.S. technology. America needs to secure our lead over the Chinese Communist Party by ending Beijing’s access to U.S. and allied technology and closing loopholes in our export controls. HPSCI and HFAC look forward to working with President Trump and industry to expand America’s AI dominance.”
