WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence Chairman Rick Crawford (AR-01) issued the following statement on the resignation of Director Gabbard as the Director of National Intelligence.

“Our prayers are with Director Gabbard and her husband, Abe. Such decisions are incredibly difficult, and we pray for them as they navigate this challenging time.

“I will always be appreciative of Director Gabbard’s service to her country in many capacities. At the beginning of the Trump Admin, she stepped up to do what many before her in the IC refused to do. During her time as DNI, Director Gabbard made significant progress on many of President Trump’s priorities, implementing needed reforms to address the weaponization and politicization of the IC, while taking actionable steps to increase transparency with the American people and accountability within the IC.

“I will be grateful for her critical support in helping the House Intelligence Committee get the 2017 Majority Staff Report on the Russia collusion hoax declassified and into the hands of the American people. She leaves a strong legacy behind at ODNI.  “I am fully confident in Deputy Director Lukas to continue this strong legacy forward during this transition. The President has called on his team to unleash our intelligence community to protect the nation, while also rooting out past abuses. This work continues!”
